Getting Ready

Drifting in and out of sleep
the alarm rings.
Time to begin another day
but I am not ready.

Snooze for five minutes
maybe 5 minute more.
Soon it's been half an hour
Time to cross the bedroom door.

Wising vacation wasn't over.
Wanting to go back to bed.
Getting ready for the day ahead.
Can I take a sick day instead?

No use trying to avoid it.
No getting out of it now.
Time to earn my keep
I'll get through it somehow.
