Who hasn't sat in the dark
Alone
Intently watching the shadows
of daylight's familiar things?

Who hasn't sat in the dark

Listening to the low hum
of electricity

Wondering
whose steps are those
outside my window

If you haven't sat in the dark

Then maybe you're lucky
Then again maybe you're not

Comfort comes in darkness.
Shadows conceal,
Imagination explores
Darkness can open doors

I sit in the dark
Naked, Wondering
Listening, Waiting

Don't Ring Again

I open my eyes

close them again

hit the alarm

and hope

that it doesn't 

ring again

It's dark now

The time of year

where snuggling

close within the covers

is all I want to do

Too soon to be up

Too dark to see

Too early it seems

Too early for me

Life is busy

Sleep is beautiful

Work is worrisome

But it brings in the bucks

Gotta get up

like it or not
