Holiday Season is Through

Bring the wreath in off the door
Christmas and Epiphany are no more
Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and Diwali  too
All the holiday's of the season are through

Discarded reminders are all that remain
Pin carcasses, ripped wrappings
torn tinsel and all the trappings
All that the Holidays once contained

Alarms have been set and schedules made
All of the holiday games have been played
early hours back to the grind
Holidays no longer fill our mind

The days will go quickly
The nights will run fast
We'll wonder at the speed of it all
Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall
Holidays will return in no time.

Morning Hour

I set the alarm just to see
If I could jog my memory
on the early morning hour

As I recall it's very dark
this time of day is far to dark
I don't know about this hour

Time for work to begin again
To not be productive seems a sin
Come on get moving you've got the power

Luckily for me my time's not up
Next week is plenty of time for this stuff
I am returning to bed for at least an hour

It's still the new year but now
we start to think of all our vows.
Reality of work comes in to play.
It's beginning to be just another day

We want the holiday feelings to stay
but to our dismay reality sets in again.
Familiar faces fade into old friends.
It's beginning to be just another day.

The first day is over
We are on to day two
Reality and responsibility
return to you
Happiness and good cheer
