Almost Forgot

Almost forgot to write today
got lost in a book what can I say
My thoughts ran off on this lovely day
lost track of time and got carried away

Luckily I have tonight
to take a moment to set things right
with words that I did mean to write

Yes, I almost forgot but I'm glad I did not
So here's just a few words I can find
to appreciate this world of mine

Writing

An exercise
An art
A practice in frustration

An instrument
An incident
A single sublimation

An eternity
An instant
A moment in time

An echo
An ego
A staccato or rhyme

This is Hard

This is hard
My mind has thoughts
that just won't reach
my fingertips

My mouth has words
that can't quite
make it
through my lips

Creativity
manages once more
to elude me

Maybe it's the
early hour
keeping me from
my verbal power

Maybe it's
the blank page
keeping me from
The artistic stage

Maybe it's
just me

This is hard
but what isn't?

Time To Write

It's time to write
my duty calls
Oh look there's something
on the wall
Never saw that spot before
I'd better clean it
such a chore.

It's time to write
put pen to page
Time to speak
the words of the sage
Oh wait what's that
my birdie dear
A dirty cage
can't have that here

It's time to write
with deep emotion
Your imagination
is boundless
just like the ocean
Oh but what do we
hear now
What is that ringing
 buzzing sound
The phone for me
a conversation
so many distractions
are here today
Guess I'll write
another day

Five Hundred

Five hundred rhymes I've written here
Five hundred witnesses saw Christ appear
And this mythical bird has an interesting feature
The Phoenix rises every five hundred years

Five hundred poems I've written not easily
The number five hundred is Irish infinity
What's the Physical life of the microcosmic creature
Five hundred according to  an R. Allendy

Can't wait to see what my mind has in store
With the penning of poems at least five hundred more

Rhyme Time

Pressed for time
to make a rhyme
from this, that or the other word

Make it clever
make it cool
make it unlike anything you ever heard

Create the theme
and make it seem
as if it is not absurd

Take your thought
work with what you've got
try hard not to be awkward

Pressed for time
to make this rhyme
please accept what I have offered

Another Day

Another day
without the way
to write the words
I long to say

to tell you about
the fun last night
to mention all
about my life

the little moments
which made me smile
hugs from children
and laughs from friends

It's another day
without the way
to write the words
I long to say

which speak of how
I feel today
and how my emotions
tend to sway

the cranky mornings
the crying moods
the enlightened evenings
or thoughts quite rude

I guess I'll have to wait again
Until the words become my friend
I'll then be able to break the spell
and tell the tale I need to tell

365

Three hundred sixty-five days in a year
Three hundred sixty-five rhymes I have here
Three hundred sixty-five poems what a feat
Three hundred sixty-five though some repeat

Daily writing is difficult to do
Creative concepts often escape you
Staying the course of a goal that was set
Good writing and bad but none I regret

Three hundred sixty-five days in a year
Three hundred sixty-five rhymes I have here
Three hundred sixty-five poems what a feat
Three hundred sixty-five poems quite a treat

Here's to creating three hundred sixty-five more
Here's to new concepts I will soon explore
Here's to imagination
Here's to creation
Here's to words that bring smiles and jubilation

Three hundred sixty-five rhymes I have here
Three hundred sixty-five poems what a feat
Three hundred sixty-five though some repeat
Three hundred sixty-five more for next year

Creativity Has Called In Sick

It's as if I've never had a thought before.
Words have left and locked the door.
Imagination is on vacation.
Creativity has called in sick.

Rhyme, reason and wit
told me they have quit.
No need to look for alliteration
or to find personification.
Eek and egads, arghh and uhgg
Onomatopoeia's left without a hug.

It's as if I've never had a thought before.
Words have left and locked the door.
Imagination is on vacation.
Creativity has called in sick.

Tall tales seem small, simile's are
like a siren's call leading me astray
Metaphors are roadblocks in my mind
I've left all artistry behind.
To the world of words I've become blind.

It's as if I've never had a thought before.
Words have left and locked the door.
Imagination is on vacation.
Creativity has called in sick.

Too Early

Too early for
creative thinking
Time for some serious
hot tea drinking
My brain is fried
no use in thinking
It's way too early for
Creative thinking.

If, If Only

If I knew what to write
I would write it
If I knew what to say
I would say it

If the thoughts that I have
could all get in line
I could organize them
in no amount of time

If I knew what to write
I would write it
If I knew what to say
I would say it

If the words worked it out
then there isn't a doubt
that creative comments
would come about

If I knew what to write
I would write it
If I knew what to say
I would say it

If my brain could maintain
lyrical laments
long enough for my pen
to paper I could commit

If I knew what to write

I would write it
If I knew what to say
I would say it

If, if only, if only
I knew what to say
If, if only the words would
come out and play

phone fun

Typing poetry
in droid technology

If there is a typo
I will give an apology

Trying out the toy
 to work out the kinks

Not quite right
but I cant say it stinks

My holiday away
I can continue to play

As soon as i figure out
how to make it all stay
