the basket disappeared
Over the centuries the meaning's not as clear

Little diapered baby running round til he gets old
then a little old man is there for us to behold

We're oh so glad you're here.

After the Holiday

Presents are opened.
Dishes are dirty.
All of the house guests left in a flurry.

No more carols to sing;
No more silver bells ring;
All the winter land walking has come to an end.

Now we think of tomorrow
as the new year approaches.

and the promises it broaches.

How do we make next year better
for ourselves and for others?

We have yet to discover.
