The Time is Now

Live today.
Dream tomorrow.
Learn from yesterday.

No time like the present
more than an expression
means living
doing now.

Today is here,
Tomorrow unclear
Yesterday can take a bow.
The time is Now!

Constant Change

Cloudy
Foggy
Groggy
Blur

Dreams go by
in a blinding whir

Remembering who we
all once were

Remembering who we
all once were

Days
Weeks
Months
Years

How did we all
get here

I can't recall
all the yesterdays

Life's gone by
in such a haze

Minutes
Moments
Seconds
Hours

outward beauty
has lost its power

Inner strength is
what remains

Time and life
is constant change

Getting it Back Together

Getting it back together.
Taking it day by day.
Balancing the adult
with the inner child at play.

Holding fast to the moment
until time to let it go.
Using all my instincts
to keep me in the know.

Wandering aimlessly
isn't on the agenda.
Following my own path
hoping to run into Glenda.

Getting it back together.
Taking it day by day.
Using all my instincts
to help me find my way.

Discipline

Put it back
Put it down
You don't need that
We've got some at home

Words and phrases
despised by the child
for whom temptation just runs wild.

A thought occurs to this young one
When mom and dad has stifled the fun:
"Just wait til I am on my own.
I cannot wait til I am grown."

Growing up those words repeat
The child struggles with defeat
The same thought pops up again and again
With that thought the child just grins:

"Just wait til I am on my own.
I cannot wait til I am grown."

Now I'm grown and on my own
Wants and needs fill up my home
I've had my moments of excess
And gave back plastic upon request

I've had my fill
taken more than my share
shopped and lived
without care

Learned my lessons over time
Everything cannot be mine
I don't make much but
more than most
Now discipline's my constant host

Put it back
Put it down
You don't need that
You've got some at home
Words I use upon myself
I understand them now that I'm grown.

Thinking Thoughts

Sitting,
Thinking thoughts out loud.
Talking to myself is how
I process daily life.

Recalling actions of the day
insecure questions
out loud I say:

Why am I doing this?
You just are.

Why have I never done this before?
You weren't ready.

Am I ready now?
Yes.

How do I know?
You just do.

What am I ready for?
Wait and see.

Sitting,
Thinking thoughts out loud.
Internal answers
make me proud.

Processing thoughts
on daily life
as time goes by.

Thanks to You

Thanks to you
I'd forgotten the awkwardness of wondering what to say.
Thanks to You
I'd forgotten the loneliness at the end of the day.
Thanks to you
I'd forgotten the look of disappointment.
Thanks to you
I'd forgotten questions like "How is your time spent?".
Thanks to you
I'd forgotten broken promises of calls to come.
Thanks to you
I'd forgotten the monotony of "Where are you from?".
Thanks to you
I'd forgotten the silliness of "How's my hair?".
Thanks to you
I'd forgotten the wondering of what to wear.
Thanks to you
I'd forgotten the strangeness of someone new.
Thanks to you
I'd forgotten the anxiety of "What will we do?".
And now, Unfortunately
Thanks to you
I am remembering again what once was forgotten
And it is all
Thanks to you.

Life Despite Fear

It's not a life without fear
But a life despite fear
That keeps me in the game.

Why strive for more
if there's nothing
to get your feet on the floor?

Why reach higher
if there's nothing
to motivate your desire?

It's not a life without fear
But a life despite fear
That makes me master every challenge.

Why run faster
if there's nothing
to make you move past disaster?

Why work harder
if there's nothing
to generate your going farther?

Many people say live a life without fear
But without fear,
How do we master each challenge?
How do we face new horizons?
How do we inspire?
How do we succeed?

It's not a life without fear
But a life despite fear
That keeps us ahead of the game.

I live life despite fear.
Can you say the same?

ROOTS AND WINGS

I thought that wings would help me fly

Would help me sail the world

But all they did was teach me how to fall

Was teach me to walk and stay on earth.

I need roots with wild streaks to keep me in line.

I can’t keep up with winged streaks

I just keep falling behind.

I cannot fly before I walk.

I cannot walk without a thought

To that which I’m walking on.

In time my roots will let me grow wings.

In time I can do anything.

Ongoing Decisions V

Forced to make decisions again and again
When will this come to an end?
Time's not on my side.
Reality's rude.
This time life,please,
 have something positive ensue.

Ongoing Decisions IV

Still looking for something I once thought I'd find.
Something keeps making my heart hit the ground.
It isn't so easy how do I seek out again,
This something so elusive I can't comprehend.

Ongoing Decisions III

Too many questions;
Too many doubts,
Decisions I'd rather live without.
What do I do?
Inner self I ask you.
Tell me what do I do.

Ongoing Decisions II

Hiding out has come to an end.
Seeds of doubt are not my friend.
Constantly yearning,
This emotion is burning,
What does this path intend?

Ongoing Decisions I

Forced to make decisions again
Time's not on my side.
Life intrudes.
Reality's rude.
Another moment has died.

SHOWERS

It’s tiny teardrops bursting and falling to the ground; a small black cloud shivers lonely in the sky. The wind begins to howl and the sky turns to Grey. Soon, more tiny black clouds will be coming our way.

Drop. Drop. Drop. Pitter. Pitter. Patter.
The music plays so loud that it turns into a clatter. There are puddles everywhere so we must all tread with care. Liquid in vivid motion so we must beware.

Damp musty clothing hanging in the hall; warm toasty oven waiting for us all. Someone’s making cocoa. Someone sweet and kind; to help relieve the dampness that’s crept into my mind.

Still outside the teardrops fall in step with time. Slowly getting louder and seemingly unkind. Then outside it rumbles sparks ignite the sky. Inside someone near me slowly starts to cry.

“Hush” I say, “Dear small one don’t worry oh so much. The teardrops they can’t hurt you. I love you dear.” And such. Then finally the dark clouds continue on their way. Dark foreboding big clouds who’ll come back another day. Till then my dear don’t worry
“Don’t worry dear” I say. “I’ll stay with you my darling. I’ll stay with you always.”

THE KEY TO THE DOOR

After the shadows, before the rain, between the heartbeats and thoughts of pain is a stillness known to none but a few who are blessed with the ability to feel the kiss of the old and new on their cheeks.

Music is the key to this forgotten place. Not just any music, soul searching, mind boggling, spine tingling rhythms won’t do. It must be a simple tune both pure and sweet. Bright and pretty dark or deep, whichever melody it plays, it’s the simplicity, which it conveys that keeps the key to the door in the mind of the one lost to us for a time.

When the music plays, a room unlocks and pours the deepest feelings in ones heart out with the hopes, dreams and fears of love and laughter life and tears. Once accomplishing this, the door will close, the shadows retreat and the rain starts to flow. It washes away all traces of woe and heart beats grow stronger as time starts to go.

The stillness now broken lets the world reappear. The mind has been opened gone are heartaches and fear. The cycle continues again and again until finally the music proceeds to win.

THERE IS NO ESCAPE FROM THE STORM

It’s wet and cold, it’s dreary and dark.
The lightening flashes an evil spark.
The thunder roars with a lion’s temper.
The raindrops fall in tempo.

The storm is approaching little by little
It takes it’s own sweet time.
The storm is coming it’s gradually coming
To keep the world in darkness.

It’s wet and cold dark and dreary;
It’s coming to blot out the sun.
There’s no way to stop it,
There’s no place to run

The storm will Always find you.
It has no shape.
It has no form.
It’ll come at anytime.

The storm is approaching the young and the old
It doesn’t matter who you are.
It’s coming to find you. It always will.
It’s coming to take you. It always does.

Its fury will find you and take you away;
There is no resistance that you can use
It takes you and then-

Everyone is Not a Winner

Here have a reward,
NO need to work hard.
Just show up breathing
 A prize you're receiving
It's as easy as that nowadays.

Hard work is passe.
Tough knocks
Fade away.
Learn a lesson from life
Not a chance.

Participate
and we congratulate
The mere fact that you are there.
Work hard and win
Apparently's a sin.
In society today
Everyone wins.

Element of Space

The huge cube stood flat on the ground
Smooth and Black
Standing next to it confident and strong
The Beauty climbed the ladder towards the top.

A space odyssey
Domineering it's place.
Big, Black, Blank;
Harnessed power of a thousand ponies
Burning inside.

Time stands still.
Bursting with internal light
Stars take flight

How high does the ladder go?
The beauty will seek,
Climbing until once again
Smooth and Black,
Harnessed power,
Burning inside
The huge cube stands flat on the ground.

HALLWAY MUSHROOMS

There are Mushrooms Growing in the Hall
by the carpet near the wall.
What's the reason for it all?
Mushrooms growing in the hall.

Why did you grow here?
What brought you so near?
Not welcomed I fear.
Why did you grow here?

White, umbrella topped and small;
Your life developed in a carpeted hall.
What's the reason for it all;
Mushrooms growing in the hall.
