More than My Hair

I am more than just my hair
I dream in ways you do not dare
I take pride in all I do and say
I wish we all could be this way

I am more than just a face
Judge me on my looks
How commonplace

I take pride in all I do and say
I wish we all could be this way

Chosen out of thousands or more
I've worked hard to get through that door
Gold is the prize for my success
Judgmental eyes must put to rest
Envious words not said in jest
I dream in ways you do not dare
for I am more than just my hair

Everyone has the ability
to be the one they truly should be
seat aside petty jealousy
Take pride in all and you too could be
A thing of pride and beauty
for we are more than just our hair
All of us can dream; but will you dare?
