Janus

Looking forward
Looking back
The last day of the year.

Looking forward
Looking back
Janus are you here?

Looking forward
Looking back
Time to make new plans.

Looking forward
Looking back
It's all in your hands.

Looking forward
Looking back
Time to start anew.

Looking forward
Looking back
A better year is up to you.

Baby New Year

Spirit of fertility
Symbol of rebirth
Lovely Pagan ritual
celebrated all over Earth.

A tiny little baby in basket
back in the day.
Depicted  Dionysus God of Wine.

A Baby reborn
life starts anew
A brand new year is welcomed here.

Over the centuries
the basket disappeared
Over the centuries the meaning's not as clear

Little diapered baby running round til he gets old
then a little old man is there for us to behold
A new year reborn
Bells, whistles and horns
Welcome baby New Year
We're oh so glad you're here.

After the Holiday

Presents are opened.
Dishes are dirty.
All of the house guests left in a flurry.

No more carols to sing;
No more silver bells ring;
All the winter land walking has come to an end.

Now we think of tomorrow
as the new year approaches.
Now we think of tomorrow
and the promises it broaches.

How do we make next year better
for ourselves and for others?
What tomorrow brings,
We have yet to discover.

Resolutions and goals
our prosperity unfolds.
Can't wait to discover
what the new year will hold.

Even though it's a holiday

Even if you ask all the right questions
and do all the right things
you still get blindsided by
other people's selfishness and stupidity.

Have Faith
Trust
Be kind
Be understanding
Get screwed and not in a fun way

Even though it's a holiday
adversity still comes your way

Have Faith
Trust
Be kind
Be understanding
I'm rebuilding the walls I once took away

Even though it's a holiday
adversity still comes your way

Have Faith

Trust
Be kind
Be understanding
good friends help take the pain away

Boxing Day

No it's not a prize fight match
There is no ref no belt no cash
There's Good King Wenceslas
and the feast of Stephen.
It's a holiday for those in service
A holiday that's well deserved
A chance for those who have a lot
To share with others what they've got.
A holiday for those in need
A holiday that's filled with glee
A holiday with a funny name
for boxing is just a silly game
But it's a holiday all the same.

Christmas Eve

Cinnamon and spice
Chocolate and peanut butter
Flavors both spicy and sweet
Gathering around the table to eat

Meaningful memories
Both old and new
Laughing and joking
A gathering of friends
Don't want this feeling to end

Hearts flutter
Voices mutter
Final anticipation begins

Happy wide bright eyes
Full of wonder and surprise
Scraps of colored paper
Decorate the floor

Laughter and love
Warm hugs
And late night goodbyes
Who could ask for more

Cookies, Candies, Kitchens too

I need a Snickerdoodle intervention
Or maybe I should stay out of the kitchen
Eggs, Cinnamon and Butter
It couldn't hurt to have another.

To smell of peanut butter is a holiday tradition
Unwrapping kisses & melting chocolate my mouth itchin'
With anticipation for something creamy, chocolaty and sweet
Peanut Blossoms and Buckeyes are they ready to eat?

Christmas cookies and candies
Holiday life is quite dandy
Although my waistline might not agree
My taste buds are extremely happy.

The Christmas Poem

I've never dreamed of a White Christmas.
I'm not fond of a Winter Wonderland.
If all my Christmases were white,
Both my troubles and myself would be out of sight.

I'd rather have ham than turkey.
Roasted chestnuts are not my cup of tea.
As for Jack Frost, he'd better not be nipping at me.

Christmas cards I love to write.
Stars will shine so very bright.
May your days be Merry and Bright
The thought fills me with delight.

Yuletide Carols are cool
And tiny tots on vacation from school
Listening late at night for sleigh bells
Hearing  all the old family tales.

Santa bringing goodies for
US good boys and girls
Friendship and happiness
felt across the world.

Say it once and then again
Many times and many ways
Merry Christmas is a time of Love
We should all praise.

Seeds of Love

Oh ho the Mistletoe
Kiss me there and I will know
the seeds of love hung up on string
holds delights to make my heart sing.

Twelfth Day Daze

Eleven pipers piping up a storm
And Twelve drummers drumming is not the norm
For a true love to give to someone dear
So yes, I got the message loud and clear
Although you tried to kill my ears

In short my true love gave to me:
Twelve Drummers drumming which was just quite mean.
Eleven Pipers piping that was not a dream.
Ten Lords a leaping who liked to eat,
Nine Prima donnas on their feet,
Eight Maids a milking up at dawn,
A group of several swimming swans,
Six geese a laying here and there,
The quite unexpected Five Gold Rings,
Four Calling birds which left me without words,
Birds again with Three French hens,
Two Turtle Doves instead of gloves,
And the gift of which I had never heard
A partridge in a pear tree, ever so absurd.

You could have told me on your own
As my darling we’re both very grown
Had you said, “I want to be alone.”
I would have left you on your own
These last 12 days have been quite crazed
In several certainly, sarcastic ways
Good bye my true love Good luck to you
For in future I am warning you
You’re going to find someone who
Gives gifts as generously as you do!

Milking, Dancing and Leaping Now

I figured if I closed the door
This wouldn't happen anymore
To give me gifts that I abhor
I'm not the one that you adore.

It's happened time and time again
I fear we're now upon day ten.
So many people surrounding me
My life's become a comedy.

Eight maids a milking as many cows,
There's the Nine ladies dancing now.
And if you were wondering where's the men
Lords a Leaping I've got ten.

Prima donnas on their feet
Lords a leaping like to eat
Maids a milking up at dawn
My true love this just can't go on!

13 Fouls

I thought your gift giving was through
I distinctly remember telling you
Feathered friends would not do
If my true love was truly you.

After five gold rings
I believed you were a king
showing me the finer things
that life has to bring

I did not know that up your sleeve
You continued to deceive.
Day six I slept upon my bed
dreaming of the day ahead
A smile of the day before
Within my sleeping state I wore

Who knew that I would soon awake
to find my place in such a terrible state
Six geese a laying here and there
Eggs and feathers everywhere

A bad dream it seemed to me
As I knew this could not be
I'm certain that we discussed this
My attitude towards feathered friends you could not miss
Back to bed  I went find some please
Hoping to wake and this would not exist.

Day Seven arrived to me at dawn
A group of several swimming swans
Now 13 fowls I find have I
Such a terrible sight I do spy
Eggs and feathers flying free
Wet birds all honking noisily

My true love how could this be
I thought this was over but now I see
Your gift giving mission his finally clear
It's all designed to bring me tears!

As Good as Gold

On the fifth day of Christmas
My true love gave to me
Five Gold Rings
Four calling birds
Three French Hens
Two Turtledoves
and a Partridge in a Pear tree.

I am in shock
I am in awe
I am in love with you
My love you are quite true

I will even forgive you
for continuing to bring
all those birds that sing
and other silly things

I never expected
Five Gold Rings
I never expected anything
The fine feathered menagerie
Made me believe you didn't care for me
Now I realize your creativity
An elaborate distraction's what this had to be

Why else would my true love give to me
all those creatures consistently
The game is over
Your plan succeeds
You are my true love
Yes indeed
No other tokens do I need

The silliness of feathered gifts
The plan to get me nice and miffed
All that you did
And now it's done
This game my love has been quite fun
As for other gifts
I don't need one
You've done more than enough and then some

Constant Calling

On the fourth day of Christmas
my true love gave to me
Four Calling birds, Three French Hens
Two Turtledoves and a
Partridge in a Pear Tree.

I forgave you once
I forgave you twice
It was my mistake to
forgive you thrice

I woke up to the morning rain
It's cold and wet and I must complain
Not just about the rain that falls
but about these birds and constant calls

Why oh Why do you torment me?
A silly bird up in a tree
Turtle doves and strange French Hens
Now birds that call over and over again.

FEATHERS FLY
is what said I
now my love I just might cry

No more BIRDS
That's it I quit
Tomorrow dear
please Get with it!!!!

Trois Poules Fran├žaises

On the third day of Christmas
My true love gave to me
Three French hens, Two Turtle Doves
And a Partridge in a pear tree.

Birds again?
What is with men;
The same gifts over and over again.

I've mentioned before
but I'll say it once more:
No need for the partridge up in a tree,
No need for turtledoves following me
Nor is there a need for Poules Francaises
today tomorrow or yesterday.

My true love charming you may be
But at gift giving let's face reality.
A personal shopper's not destined for thee.

Please listen and hear
Any more birds and I fear
the feathers will fly
between you and I!

Turtle Doves from my Love

On the second day of Christmas
My true love gave to me
Two turtle Doves and
A Partridge in a Pear Tree.

Another tree oh deary me
My true love you can't possibly be
We discussed at length
The insanity of
Partridges up in a tree.

And now my love
You give me Two Turtle Doves?
How about a pair of gloves?

Stop sending me gifts
from the skies above.
Try to remember dear
You're my true love
And just say NO to Two Turtle Doves!

Partridges and Pear Trees

On the first day of Christmas
My true love gave to me
A partridge in a pear tree.

Now I don't know about you
but this is something
my true love just wouldn't do.

A bird is grand
but I don't understand
this partridge in a tree.

A Parakeet that goes tweet tweet
A Conjure  with some seeds to eat
A Parrot mimicking all you do
a Cockatiel to play with you

All fine gifts if you like birds.
This pear tree and partridge is just absurd.
My true love please don't give to me
A TV bird within a tree.

Christmas Collage

There's Silver Bells and Christmas trees
We deck the halls and Santa sees.
Rudolph's nose will light the way
to a manger but not  an inn.

There's Jingle Bells and dashing sleighs
A shining star to light the way
for three wandering kings.

Lords and maids and five gold rings;
Snowmen and a holy night
All these lines from songs we sing
Make our spirits feel quite right.

Your days may be sunny and bright
and in some cases they may even be white.
It's the best time of the year
So have a Holly, Jolly Christmas
And a delicious cup of cheer!

CHRISTMAS PEACE

Why is it that it takes a holiday

For people to come close together?
And why is it that there’s no other way
For us to show love for one another?

We should let the whole world know
That we all are one with each other;
And no matter what the world does now
We should change.

The world it should live in sweet harmony
And we should all give of ourselves;
And peace on earth, good will towards men
Should rule from this lifetime till the end.

Well we should let the Christmas Peace
Ring through the world each and every day
So we can all know we’re not alone.
And if we let the Christmas peace
Ring through the world each and everyday
Then we could all feel that we’re at home.

And the world could be a better place
For the entire human race
IF the Christmas Peace could just live on.

Life Experience to Go

Experience a life
Especially for you.

Remember you are special.

Make every day a celebration.

Keep in touch
with friends, family
fantasy and reality.

Be thankful for the clouds the stars
the wind, the rain,
The moments of joy and
the bits of pain.

Remember,
We are all mad here.
Believe in yourself.
