Transitions

Looking in the mirror at what you've become
Asking yourself where did those lines come from

Not quite old but
young no more
A body that aches like
never before

Eyes that have seen far more than expected
a smile still lovingly projected

Your clothes have filled in  previously empty spaces
With deposits of flesh in brand new places

Accepting the flaws inherited
through genetics

Learning to navigate your new aesthetic

Remembering the joys of yesterday
Enjoying the you of the current day

Looking back at where you've been
though time has changed
it's nowhere near the end
