Morning Routine

Alarm disturbs dreams
Against my will I'm awake
Mornings aren't my friend.

Wakened by the bell
Time to face another day
Weekend please come soon.

Sounds shatter dreamscapes
Sleepy eyes sense the daylight
Yawn, stretch, hit the snooze.

Mornings aren't my friend
Way too early in the day
Back to bed again.

Time After Time

Time flies
but it's on my side
it stand stills
but also runs
it moves quickly
and then again slow
it slips away before we know.

There's no time for regrets
no time to worry
no time to wait
no time to hurry
no time to miss
no time to see
no time it seems for anything.

From time to time
we live on borrowed time
and we keep time
when we're out of time
Time is money
when the time is right
and hopefully
we'll have a good time tonight

We're pressed for time
when we're out of time
It's hard to keep time
When having the
time of your life.

At all time's
we have to bide our time
in order not to feel
behind the times
We have to set some time aside.

Time flies
but it's on my side
it stand stills
but also runs
it moves quickly
and then again slow
it slips away before we know.

Discipline

Put it back
Put it down
You don't need that
We've got some at home

Words and phrases
despised by the child
for whom temptation just runs wild.

A thought occurs to this young one
When mom and dad has stifled the fun:
"Just wait til I am on my own.
I cannot wait til I am grown."

Growing up those words repeat
The child struggles with defeat
The same thought pops up again and again
With that thought the child just grins:

"Just wait til I am on my own.
I cannot wait til I am grown."

Now I'm grown and on my own
Wants and needs fill up my home
I've had my moments of excess
And gave back plastic upon request

I've had my fill
taken more than my share
shopped and lived
without care

Learned my lessons over time
Everything cannot be mine
I don't make much but
more than most
Now discipline's my constant host

Put it back
Put it down
You don't need that
You've got some at home
Words I use upon myself
I understand them now that I'm grown.

Daily Grind

Made it through another day
barely here but that's okay

Tired of the day to day
All I want is to go play

Made it through another day
barely here but that's okay

Longing for some time alone
Get me out of the danger zone

Made it through another day
barely here but that's okay

Creative forces on my side
Better choices I won't hide

Made it through another day
barely here but that's okay

The daily grind grates on my mind
A better path I need to find

Made it through another day
barely here but that's okay

Looking at the future me
Soon that's where I'm going to be

Made it through another day
barely here but that's okay

Change

Change
The world is full of change
I'm not always happy about it
But it is inevitable.

Change
Never easy
Often needed
Sometimes desired
And/or required

Change
The world is full of change.
I'm not always happy about it
But it's sometimes beautiful.

Consistently Cleaning

Consistently cleaning house
My Mind, my life, my world
Never easy for this girl
but I still give it a whirl.

GOING HOME (9-6-89)

The hut and a few shrubs

Stand in the falling night

I sit on your lap

Kiss your sweet lips

And your neck

You smile and chuckle

Watching salmon on the

Warm open flame

Bring in the nets, the traps

The hooks

We’ll lie on the rug

Beside each other

Waves tumbling on the shore

Holding time
