Springing Forward

I hate it
I loathe it
I despise it
It's true

Springing forward is not
a humane thing to do
This natural night owl
cries foul!

Extra sunlight
well yes I 'm a fan
but there has to be a better plan
sleep to me is better still
than this leftover piece of swill

Last I checked
 I was a city girl
and granted there's still  farmland
 in this world
but  nowhere near hear
of that I am sure

Why disturb my good night's sleep
with this giant forward leap
For it's just  a tradition we now keep
and no genuine benefit do we reap

Breathless
running free
sunshine
 gentle breeze
do you remember
remember these?

Cool water from a hose
ice cream trucks
sand between your toes
do you remember
remember those?

Playing with kids just down the street
Mom bringing out that red sweet treat
night time games of hide and seek
scary names you shouldn't speak

Do you remember
not long ago
singing loud
not laughing low?

Do you remember
seems like yesterday
Do you remember
how to play?

Listening to one another

Opening up your vulnerabilities

Valuing each other

Expecting nothing and receiving it all

Instantly acknowledging there is no control

Sensing the safety within

Can't Decide

I can't decide which way to go
 with my words today
I have some thoughts but I'm not sure
 if they are what to say
Troubled times are all around
It's hard to greet each day
yet even still the words I hear
aren't quite what I mean to say
or better still they really are
but aren't appropriate for display
Get up, get going, keep moving on
no dallying today
Send out good vibes, stop wondering why
leave it to the fates today

Be Prepared

It always pays to be prepared
of course in our youth we never cared
do what you like
when you like
that's what's to do
growing up is not for you

As you age you see the truth
in what was scoffed at in your youth
turn back time
we cannot do
for we'd see how much was true
in what we were told we had to do

Be prepared
don't be scared
to follow that advice
you'll see soon
how quick you change your tune
when you see  that this is wise
