Complicated Emotions

Overly cautious
conveniently dumb
my current state of emotions
has left me quite numb

Too tired to feel.
Weighed down by my thoughts.
Time stretches on.
It's all that I've got

Sleep eludes me.
Sometimes, so does sanity;
languidly watching
me slip away from me.

Somewhere the key
to awaken from wakeful dreaming
lies in a drawer
filled with complicated scheming.

A stronger hand than mine
would feel good
right about this time.

Why am I always
the beast of burden?
Sometimes I need to take time
to heal the inside of me that's hurting.
