A Dark Day

Bellies filled
with food and laughter
even on the
morning after.

Too stuffed to eat
a morning meal,
Eyes bigger than
my tummy;
That's how I feel.

Can't understand
the lines on the news.
People up all night
shopping?
How could they choose
to stand in line for a
supposed deal
when warm and cozy
with family is what should
be real.

A dark day is upon us
so be prepared
Overzealous shoppers
we should be scared
Pepper spray and crowd control
pushing, shoving sell your soul
It's all to get that
supposed deal
It's just madness.
That's how I feel.

I am safe inside
with my full belly.
Leftovers calling my name
I'd rather wrestle with
more stuffing
as over crowding
bargain shopping's
just ever so lame.
