I blinked and must have missed it

The time slipping away

I know the new year has just begun

but the days didn't pass

they seemed to run

First month

last day

Sky is blue

Not gray

Enjoyed each moment

in a special way

but how quickly we arrived

to today

Time slips into the the future

I think is a sneaky phrase

Slips, slides, slinks, strides

It moves in mysterious ways

I'm losing my mind.

All these Germs

You don't want to deal with it

From all of these germs

I am not a nurse
and your child's cold
 is my curse
Sending kids to school
while they're ill makes you a fool

Runny nose and sneezes
chock full of diseases
Keep them away from
me please.

Use common sense
the self defense
against this stupidity
Of feeling it's okay
to expose your child's germs
to me.

One sick child
the germs run wild
and spread as far as they're able
First this one and then it's gone
from table to table

Perfectly Still

Last  night I sat perfectly still
and it wasn't against my will.
As a matter of fact, it was quite by choice;
No movement, no emotion
not even the sound of my own voice.

Last night I took a moment for me.
I would take another one now quite gladly.
We often forget to make time for it
the downtime that replenishes our soul
as a dollar a day seems our ultimate goal.

Breathe in. Breathe out.
Let the rat race run out.
It only takes a moment to do.
Dinner for one, none or two,
Do what you need to do
but always take a moment for you.


Last  night of my own free will
I took a moment to sit perfectly still
Yes, indeed it was quite by choice
No movement, no emotion
not even the sound of my own voice.

Such a novel  notion
this time of devotion
to the person who deserves a break.
Sitting perfectly still
is a moment we all should take.

The path you ultimately follow
The challenges you ensue

We commemorate the birthday of 
a man who showed true peace and love
the late civil rights lion Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. 

It's been 150 Years since the Emancipation Proclamation. 
America we are making progress 
But we still have far to go to continue to create a great nation

Artistically Inclined

An extension of yourself that you want to have accepted
Many pieces of you floating around
Maze upon maze of swirling, entangled leaves
replaced with lines and curves and mazes.

Take me into a space less complicated than where I am.
Help organize the constantly swirling thoughts in my mind.

I Let it loose upon society

despite the voices in my head

Forgot to share a thought last night
Can't think about a one today

Waiting

Not so patiently waiting for time to go by
There's so much to do but I don't know why
I can't seem to finish no matter how hard I try.

Snacking on sweet treats
Watching the crowd
Crunching of cookies
Boy life is loud

Pent up energy dying to release
Nerves and anxiety for tomorrow hold the lease
On all of today's do what you please.

Not so patiently I say
But tomorrow's another day
Hopefully all will be okay
Try my best is all I can say.

The work week's nearly through
and yet I've still so much to do
Nose to grindstone
No time to stay home
Life's quite a challenge or two

Holiday Season is Through

Bring the wreath in off the door
Christmas and Epiphany are no more
Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and Diwali  too
All the holiday's of the season are through

Discarded reminders are all that remain
Pin carcasses, ripped wrappings
torn tinsel and all the trappings
All that the Holidays once contained

Alarms have been set and schedules made
All of the holiday games have been played
early hours back to the grind
Holidays no longer fill our mind

The days will go quickly
The nights will run fast
We'll wonder at the speed of it all
Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall
Holidays will return in no time.

Morning Hour

I set the alarm just to see
If I could jog my memory
on the early morning hour

As I recall it's very dark
this time of day is far to dark
I don't know about this hour

Time for work to begin again
To not be productive seems a sin
Come on get moving you've got the power

It's still the new year but now
we start to think of all our vows.
Reality of work comes in to play.
It's beginning to be just another day

We want the holiday feelings to stay
but to our dismay reality sets in again.
Familiar faces fade into old friends.
It's beginning to be just another day.

The first day is over
We are on to day two
Reality and responsibility
return to you
Happiness and good cheer
Fade away for the year
Life as usual is here.
