THE MERMAID (6/24/93)

She was dark as ebony
With hair the purest pink
And fins a shade of violet
That would make an amethyst blink

She guarded the shores of infinity
Watched o’er the planes sublime
And ruled the lands of peace and unity
Long before we knew of time.

Her name remains unspoken
For no one quite remembers
They just know that it’s the mermaid
Who knows what the future holds

She’s the guardian of hope
She’s the proprietor of time
Listen as her many clocks unwind
And wind and wind

This mermaid dark as ebony
And hair so pink and fair
With fins so very violet
An amethyst can only stare

Does not wish to be disturbed
As she rules her constant land
The mermaid who knows everything
Her secrets are at hand
